My name is Dr Rachel Stirrup, I'm an environmental microbiologist currently working in environmental & sustainability consulting.

My hope is that this site will be a place where I can explore the goings-on in the scientific literature, and explore topics that are perhaps further outside my field of expertise. I love digging deep into topics that interest me, and I'd like to also share what I learn so that it could (possibly!) be of use to others who might also want to learn.

I'm sure the content will develop over time, but mostly I'd just like an excuse to keep writing about science, a) so I don't get rusty, and b) because I love it!
